Move over Gershwin and Barenboim, Jewish women musicians are rocking the world and JWT is thrilled to present three of the best at our upcoming event BRAVISSIMA! Jewish Women in Music on April 7th as part of our Sunday Morning at the Braid series. On this Episode, Lisa, Maureen and Arlene are joined by two of our three panelists: flute soloist Susan Greenberg and composer Miriam Cutler (Bios Below). SUSAN GREENBERG enjoys a versatile career as soloist, chamber musician, symphony player, and recording artist. The Los Angeles Times has described her playing as “brilliant” “elegant” and “supple.” During her 36 years with the LA Chamber Orchestra, she was a frequent soloist on both flute and piccolo. She has also appeared as guest soloist with the San Francisco and Oakland Symphonies, the Santa Monica Symphony, the Napa Valley Symphony, and at the Hollywood Bowl. Presently she is the principal flutist with the Santa Monica Symphony and the Vicente Chamber Orchestra. She has performed with the LA Philharmonic, L.A. Opera, New York City Opera, American Ballet Theater, as well as at the Casals, Ojai and Martha’s Vineyard Music Festivals. Ms. Greenberg was the principal flutist for the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra’s tour of Japan, and has received the “Most Valuable Player” award on the flute from the National Association of  Recording Arts and Sciences. Ms. Greenberg is presently the flute professor at Pepperdine University and Santa Monica College. She is the Co-Artistic Director of Chamber Music Palisades and has recorded for over 500 motion pictures and many TV television shows, including the Simpsons for 25 years.

Emmy nominated Composer, MIRIAM CUTLER has an extensive background in scoring independent film & TV projects, as well as two circuses. She was chosen by her peers to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a member of the Documentary Branch and invited to represent Documentary Film abroad for the US State Department’s American Film Showcase. She has also been Composer in Residence at Columbia College of the Arts, and presented workshops at USC, UCLA, Berklee College of Music and internationally. She recently completed scores for Dark Money, Love, Gilda and RBG, which was nominated for a 2019 Oscar. Miriam’s passion for documentary film has led to a focus in non-fiction with credits including the award-winning Ethel (Sundance/HBO), Rory Kennedy’s five time Emmy nominated documentary about her parents, Bobby and Ethel Kennedy, which was shortlisted for an Oscar in 2013. Additionally her films have won several Emmy Awards and she has served as Lab Advisor for the Sundance Institute Documentary Composers Lab since it began in 2003. She has co-produced two Grammy-nominated live jazz albums, albums for Nina Simone, as well as independently released albums of her own songs and soundtracks.
